Christmas Eve

Every year on Christmas Eve we head to New Braunfels to celebrate with TJ's extended family. We opened presents that day with Momo, Popo, Alex, Cindy and the girls! Lyla has such a great time opening her presents. Her face would light up and she wanted to get every single thing out of the packaging!

Later that night when we returned home we got ready for Santa. Lyla put carrots out for the reindeer along with cookies and a glass of whiskey to warm Santa up on his long journey. We also sprinkled reindeer food in the front yard so that Rudolph could find our house. After that we snuggled on the couch and read The Night Before Christmas. What a wonderful Christmas Eve!

Christmas, pt. 1

So, the Caballero family computer bit the dust right before Thanksgiving and the pictures have piled up and are slowly being processed! Therefore, I will start from the beginning! Early in December we took Lyla to see Santa at our neighbor's house! Before we left we had to take some pictures of her in her precious Christmas outfit. As soon as I get the Santa pictures I will post those as well! Here's the beginning of the Christmas craziness!

P.S. There is also a picture of our sweet girl with her favorite household appliance! She's obsessed with anything that plugs in! She especially loves the vacuum! We also have a space heater that we use to heat the downstairs when it's cold outside. She loves "the hot"!

Thanksgiving, part 1

So, I've been unable to blog because our laptop, which houses all of my photo software and uploading capabilities died. Yes, the "blue screen of death" is how my husband describes it to people! So, I guess we're in the market for a new laptop and a new desktop! Lucky us! Why do all of the electronics in our house die at the same time?

So, I decided to come to my mom's house and set up shop! We had a lovely Thanksgiving! It was so nice to have time off and get some shopping and decorating done! My grandparents, Grandma (Lyla calls her GG) and Grandpa Hoffman came down from Kansas. Brandon and Lyndsey also came for an extended visit! It was so fun to have everyone here! Here are a few photo's of our holiday! Parts 2 and 3 to come soon!

Trick-or-Treat!

Yesterday was a busy day for the Caballero's. The Halloween fun really began on Friday at Lyla's daycare. They had Halloween treats all day! Including Mommy's pumpkin pancakes that she sent for the kids! After nap I joined the kids to have a fun Halloween snack and do face and hair painting! What fun! After that Lyla and I went to have her hair cut at a fun kids place. Long story short...Lyla decided it was not fun! So, on Halloween morning we got all dressed up and headed to the Ray's (our neighbors) for a Halloween playdate. Kristin is the queen of party planning so it was fabulous!! What a great time we all had. After a nap we got the driveway all set for football watching. This included a BIG screen projection of the game and a dip contest! Congrats to my mom and aunt who tied for the golden dip trophy! Before the football game we took Lyla around the cul-de-sac once she was dressed for the second time! One of the neighbors was less than prepared so Lyla got a Clif energy bar for her treat! He he he! Brian pulled Lyla and Nolan in the wagon and we headed over to a street near by to see the haunted house/yard and do some candy collecting! Lyla ate her candy on the way! I don't think she's ever eaten so much chocolate! We'll see how that goes with her digestive system! After some more playing in the front yard it was time for the kids to go to bed and the parents to watch the end of the dismal football game! Go Pokes! (no, we did not win) Better luck next year!

Pumpkins!!

This morning we went to church and afterward we went to the youth pumpkin patch to pick out our fall pumpkins! What fun! As soon as Lyla saw them she started yelling, "Yeah, yeah, yeah!!" She was all smiles and so excited that there were so many pumpkins all around! We took lots of pictures. Sometimes she is cooperative! Here are a few of the cute ones! Happy Fall everyone!

A typical weekend for the Caballero's...

Say cheese Lyla!

Lyla is going to exercise!

So I'm posting pictures from random things we've done the past couple of weekends. Of course, today has a happy ending because Texas beat OU. We went to celebrate with the fam at Salt Lick!
Anyway, there are some pictures of Lyla's halloween wardrobe as well as pictures with her favorite "ghosty" that hangs on the front door. She loves ghosty. She reads to ghosty, gives ghosty a bottle and many hugs and kisses! Lyla is going to be a black cat for halloween this year. Hopefully she'll wear the ears!

There is also a picture of Lyla wearing my tennis shoes. She loves to ask me if I'm going to "e-kersize". Then we I get back she makes me take off my shoes and socks so that she can put them on!

Fall is here!

Today was a great day for taking fall pictures. The air was crisp and there was a slight breeze! It really felt like the seasons are beginning to change! Thank you to the Ray's for letting us use their decorations!

Nighty- Night Lyla...

After being up last night with my daughter for an hour and a half I decided that she would sleep better not feeling caged in. So, today when we got home we, Lyla and I, went upstairs to get her "big girl bed" ready for tonight! We took the crib mattress out of her crib and put it on the floor, after a thorough washing of the sheets. We put all of her best loved blankies and toys on her bed with her. Tonight I took her upstairs after we talked a lot about sleeping in her big girl bed. She said, "Yi-ya no get up mommy!" She sleeps on a nap mat at daycare so hopefully the transition will be easier. Back to tonight...we went upstairs with Kitty, Woobie and a pacie, picked out books and laid in bed to read. We read two stories, Pajama Time and The Story of Noah, we talked about staying in bed and going to sleep before we said prayers and got kisses. She tried to sit up and I told her to lay down before I had to help her lay down. I said good night and left the room. We heard the normal chatter after I got downstairs but soon after we heard nothing...is this the sound of success! Only the night will tell!
