Nighty- Night Lyla...

After being up last night with my daughter for an hour and a half I decided that she would sleep better not feeling caged in. So, today when we got home we, Lyla and I, went upstairs to get her "big girl bed" ready for tonight! We took the crib mattress out of her crib and put it on the floor, after a thorough washing of the sheets. We put all of her best loved blankies and toys on her bed with her. Tonight I took her upstairs after we talked a lot about sleeping in her big girl bed. She said, "Yi-ya no get up mommy!" She sleeps on a nap mat at daycare so hopefully the transition will be easier. Back to tonight...we went upstairs with Kitty, Woobie and a pacie, picked out books and laid in bed to read. We read two stories, Pajama Time and The Story of Noah, we talked about staying in bed and going to sleep before we said prayers and got kisses. She tried to sit up and I told her to lay down before I had to help her lay down. I said good night and left the room. We heard the normal chatter after I got downstairs but soon after we heard nothing...is this the sound of success! Only the night will tell!

Life is like a bowl of cherries...

Last weekend we were eating dinner and Lyla decided she would rather have her bowl on her head! She thought it was hilarious! I snapped a few pictures of her giggling!

On Tuesday Lyla spent half the day with her Nana. I had a meeting that went well into the evening so she picked her up before lunch at Ms. Kelly's. Lyla loves spending time with her Nana! When we were leaving I buckled her into her carseat and Nana went to give Lyla a kiss goodnight. Lyla said, " I wove oo Nana!" I was unprompted and so sweet!

Lyla also had her two year well check on Thursday, September 24th. She did so well! She kept telling me, "I show Dr. Chang my belly button!" She only had to have two shots and the Flu Mist up her nose! What a trooper! She walked out of the doctor's office by herself like such a big girl. She remains a tiny tot! She in the 10-20% (percentile) for weight and 5-10% for height! She'll be petite!

Days of the Week...

Wow, our child is a little sponge! Tonight in the bathtub she started singing a new song that she learned at daycare. Our wonderful childcare provider uses a great curriculum with the kids and she teaches the kids so many great things to prepare them for school! Ms. Kelly tells us how much Lyla likes talking to Weather Windy (the weather puppet). Lyla was singing the days of the week song and later at night her and TJ were shouting "Weather Windy"! She loved it! What wonderful memories we are making!

Happy Birthday to Lyla!

Wow, the past two years have flown by! I can't believe how fast Lyla has grown! She is such a big girl and tries to be very independant! She loves to sing and dance! She's such a chatterbox. She loves to tell us things and repeat everything we say. She adds at least 5 words a day to her vocabulary!
We had her birthday party yesterday! The weather was perfect until it started to rain! Oh well, she still enjoyed opening her presents and hearing everyone sing Happy Birthday to her! Here's a video of her birthday song!

Lyla's daycare birthday celebration!

Wow, tomorrow my sweet baby will turn two! Where has the time gone! Today I shoved 22 kids out my classroom door and into the arms of their parents before I gathered my things and hit the road! I made it to Kelly's just in time!! Nana helped me make Elmo cupcakes, that didn't look like Elmo at all, to take to Lyla's daycare. They sang "Happy Birthday" to her and ate their cupcakes for afternoon snack! It was so fun to see her interacting with her new friends! She loves going to Ms. Kelly's now and is getting to be such a big girl!

It's been a long time...

I write this post through the blurry eyes of a First Grade Teacher who is 3 days into the school year. It's been over a month since I last posted! Opps! I have a lot of events to cover and a ton of pictures. Here's the first event that happened in early August. One of my bestest friends from college came to visit with her sweet little boy. We really enjoyed Meaghan and Max's visit! We went shopping, went swimming and enjoyed the kids! Max is already to so big and Lyla noticed that too! She's quite the little Mine-Monster these days! Here are some photos from their visit!
