Surfin' in New Braunfels...

Last Monday we spent the day at Schlitterbaun with TJ's family. Lyla loved the water and playing in the pools all day long. Momo watched Lyla while she napped and we went to ride a few rides! Lyla loves swimming and we can't wait to go back next year!

Nana's Birthday

For Nana's Birthday this year we went to The Hula Hut. Lyla had a cheese quesadilla that she loved! She also drank milk! What a big girl! These are pictures of us back at Nana and Papa's house eating birthday cake. Nana wanted an Angel Lush Cake. It's an Angel food cake cut horizontally into three layers with a mixture of vanilla pudding, crushed pineapple and cool whip. It turned out really yummy!

Cruisin'

Last week I decided that Lyla hardly has any toys that are truly age appropriate and aid in her development (yuck! teacher talk!). So, we went to Toys R Us. I have not been to this place in a really long time! She was riding in her stroller and her eyes were so big while she looked at all the toys around her. I decided to buy her a Stroll -Along walker. It's so cute! This will help her learn to walk. She has taken a few spills and this morning she got a boo boo on her head when she was trying to pull up on her stroller. But we dust off, gives kisses and get back to playing!

Lyla's new friend...

We've had a busy but fun weekend. Lyla had a new friend born on Saturday morning. Marcus Alexander was born to our friends Michelle and Andy. They have two little girls, Analissa and Elena who are excited about their baby brother! While they were in the hospital Elena came over to play during the days. Here are a few pictures of Elena playing with baby Lyla.

Lyla is almost 11 months old and she is very active. She began crawling the week before 4th of July and the next week she started pulling up. She is now holding on to things and walking around! We can't believe what a big girl she is. She loves to sing and dance with Mommy in the evenings while we make dinner. She likes to sing the "Brush your Teeth" song on one of her Raffi CDs.

Old McDonald had a farm....

Well we are back from the "Lyla Tour 2008" through Kansas and Oklahoma. We went to visit Granny and Aunt Freya on the farm. While we were there we saw lots of wildlife and went on a tour at a neighboring farm and gathered eggs right from the hen house!! We met Nini and Uncle Fred in Great Bend and Nini gave Lyla an Elmo that has a pacie. Lyla tries to suck on Elmo's pacie!! Lyla gets mad when Elmo won't share his pacie.

We also went back to Oklahoma City to celebrate the 4th with Brandon and Lyndsey. While the men played golf we went to a Tea Room! We had a wonderful time! We went and saw a wonderful fireworks display after Brandon barbequed some steaks for us. On Saturday we went to Okarche (Oh-car-chi), OK to eat the best Fried Chicken ever! There is a little bar called Eishen's and they serve beer, water and soda along with fried chicken and fried okra, that's it!! No silverware and no plates! If you have been out to Kreuz in Lockhart, TX to eat BBQ it's like that except with chicken. Yum!

Lyla has perfected the art of crawling and is now pulling up and walking along things while she holds on! She is also 10 months old now! She likes to fake cry and it sounds like she's saying "Oh, oh, oh!" This last week she was giving her Papa kisses and now shares kisses with her mommy!

Happy Fourth of July...

What a busy week we've had. TJ and I celebrated our 3rd Anniversary on Wednesday by going out for dinner, alone! Nana and Papa watched Lyla while we went downtown for dinner at Fogo de Chao. If you haven't been to this resturant you need to go. It's a Brazilian steakhouse and they literally bring you meat on a sword like thing! I was delicious! It was also quite a dining experience.

Lyla has also been working really hard all week on crawling and finally today she was successful! She can make it all around the living room and gets herself into all kinds of trouble! She started crawling just in time for our trip to Kansas. We are leaving tomorrow, Sunday, to go and visit Granny, Aunt Freya and Nini. We are also going to spend some time with Uncle Bubbie and Aunt Lyndsey.

We want to wish everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July! Enjoy the three day weekend!
